I work with different clay bodies (crank, T material and red stoneware), using coloured slips as a decorative medium. The work is high fired in a reduction atmosphere. Pieces are architecturally orientated, exploring the idea of homes or buildings 'as vessels for people to live in'.
I also make ceramic jewellery inspired by ancient pottery and glass shards.
I have a great interest in anthropology and archaeology, and I am inspired by ancient and simple societies, where everyday hand-made objects and architecture assume an importance in peoples lives. My work is architecturally oriented. I try to express the importance of houses and buildings as places of power and spirituality. The pieces I make, represent 'Spirit Houses', an embodiment of the magic of life. I also try to express the idea of houses/ buildings as containers (pots) for people's lives, feelings and magic.
