These bowls have, I think, two lives. Firstly as a sculptural object in space but just as important as a vessel - a container of air, light and colour. I Try to give the colour and texture in a bowl a kind of shifting fluid pattern. It often takes four of five firings to achieve the right depth and complexity of colour.
